Castrol Offshore wins Aseng

Friday, Jun 25, 2010

Castrol Offshore is supplying Transaqua HT2 to the Aseng field development, off Equatorial Guinea, making it a first for the area.

Aseng is the latest win for Castrol Offshore, which is increasing its activity and experience off the west coast of Africa and in recent years has won major projects offshore Nigeria, Angola and Congo.

The first phase of Aseng, which is located in block offshore Equatorial Guinea, will include five subsea wells tied back to a floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) located in 3100ft water.

The project will use Castrol Transaqua HT2, a water-based hydraulic control fluid specifically formulated for use as the control medium in surface and subsea production control systems.

Transaqua HT2 is part of Castrol Offshore's GreenField range of environmentally responsible products, meeting OSPAR requirements and reducing the impact these fluids have on the environment. Piers Lawday, Africa Subsea Sales Manager for Castrol Offshore's African region said: A key selling point to operators sanctioning projects off Africa is Castrol Offshore's global network of offices and distributors that can support a project during manufacture of key equipment and throughout the life of a field. Often subsea equipment for projects like Aseng is manufactured in and supplied from various different countries worldwide, so clients and contractors need support and products in these areas as well as their main areas of operations.

In the case of Aseng the FPSO will be supplied from Singapore while the hydraulic control umbilicals will be manufactured in the USA. Castrol Offshore's strong relationship with the subsea hardware vendors globally enables them to approve the use of Castrol Offshore products in their equipment, ensuring reliable delivery in addition to superior performance.
