Prestigious business award for oil spill and pollution control company

The growth, innovation and manufacturing excellence of Vikoma International Ltd have been recognised with a prestigious business award.

Part of Aberdeen-based Energy Environmental Group, Vikoma designs and manufactures specialist oil spill response and pollution control equipment. The company scooped first prize in the Manufacturing and Technology Award 2012 category at this year’s Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for Excellence.

The award acknowledges high standards of innovation and excellence in manufacturing as well as transformational technology and its application in new markets.

Peter Tyler, managing director of Vikoma, said: “We are proud to have been recognised with a Chamber Business Award. From our state of the art manufacturing facility in the Isle of Wight, we export our products and services to 120 countries. During the last year Vikoma has introduced several new products to the international market with great success. We excel in the design and manufacture of innovative products which help companies mitigate their impact on the environment.”

At the forefront of the global market, Vikoma exports 95% of the equipment it manufactures in the Isle of Wight with recent orders coming from Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Russia and Germany.

Mr Tyler added: “We believe we are the only oil pollution control systems manufacturer with the ISO 9001:2008 certificate covering all of our activities including sales, design, development, manufacture, installation and commissioning. We are renowned in the market place as an innovator that produces high quality, reliable products.”
