ATR Group seals major North Sea deal with BIS Salamis

Tuesday, Sep 15, 2009

PLANT, lifting and tool rental specialist the ATR Group has secured a major new deal with BIS Salamis in the UKCS North Sea, for a three year period with options to extend beyond.

ATR Group is delivering vital equipment associated with fabric maintenance operations including compressors, generators and ATEX rated tools and equipment, as well as consumables, to BIS Salamis.

The equipment on hire will be used in a variety of situations in offshore oil and gas exploration, production and maintenance operations on assets including fixed platforms, FPSOs and drilling and support vessels.

Keith Moorhouse, managing director of ATR Group, said: “We have a long-standing relationship with BIS Salamis and this agreement is a perfect illustration of the continued, sizeable growth we are enjoying.

“Our scale allows us to supply major organisations like BIS Salamis with a wide range of fully-certified equipment and other products, at short notice, and on their terms when it comes to the period they required needed for.

“ATR Group has invested more than £2million on expanding its fleet in the last 12 months, to ensure we can meet the needs of clients throughout the UKCS who continue to show that demand for rental support continues to grow.”

Gus Smart, operations manager at BIS Salamis, said ATR’s ability to provide assets on-demand helped ensure operations can be carried out when needed, without delivery delays.

“ATR supplies us with a range of plant and equipment which is integral to fabric maintenance operations, during which there is a strong emphasis on flexibility and reliability,” he says.

“Changes in the marketplace over the last year to 18 months have meant that having access to a wide range of rental assets is vital and ATR continues to provide us with the equipment we need, on-demand.”

ATR Group is the market leader in the rental of specialised tools and equipment for the offshore oil and gas industry maintenance market, operating throughout the North Sea and UKCS, and the Caspian region.

The group expanded into the provision of lifting services with the acquisition of Bridon International’s Baku and Aberdeen lifting operations, and its companies continue to grow in the global oil and gas marketplace. ATR operates an integrated quality management system, featuring ISO:9001 accreditation across all group companies.

ATR Group was acquired by its directors in a deal supported by Aberdeen Asset Managers and RBS Structured Finance in June 2007 and, since then its turnover has risen from £14million to more than £17million.
